Spirit Unfolding is a month-long program which will bring together people of various disciplines, artistic and otherwise, to create a visual, musical, spoken and written dialogue. It will be connected to an art exhibition of paintings by artist William Rock representing the process of self transformation. Artist Rock says: “There are some artists that have unfolded the deepest level of awareness. An awareness discovered with earnestness and solitude that connects the artist with everyone and everything. Stepping outside of society to go inside, to go so far inside that the illusion of self is understood. The self becomes something that is merely witnessed as it acts out its destiny.” The art exhibit will be shown primarily at the Mendelson Gallery in Shadyside. The mission is to reach as many people from all walks of life in activities that will connect art, creativity, psychology and spiritual wisdom from East and West, and form a dialogue between them.
This dialogue will promote an unfolding vision of wholeness: an understanding of the oneness of existence as an unbroken and seamless whole and an understanding which urges us to transform ourselves, the meanings of our lives, and the world around us.
Like the artists, participants may access an awareness other than self that will promote the capacity to witness life and one’s contributory role in it.
